TOP 5 Things to do in the GARDEN ROUTE

• Zipline at Tsitsikamma Forest

The Tsitsikamma Zipline is the original zipline in South Africa. This canopy tour involves zip-lining from one platform to another, along a steel cable suspended up to 30 meters above the forest floor. Discover the secrets of the spectacular and unique Tsitsikamma Indigenous forest. The tour consists of ten slides (the longest one measuring 91m), each ending on a platform constructed in the trees.

• Bramon Wine Estate

Situated in a mountainous area called The Crags, Bramon Wine Estate is the first estate to grow vineyards in the Plettenberg Bay area. Bramon Wines paved the way for a new ‘Sparkling Wine Route’. Enjoy a wide range of activities, from wine-tasting to a hearty lunch, at the estate’s ever-increasingly popular restaurant, set in the vineyards that overlook the Tsitsikamma Mountains.

• Featherbed Sunset cruise to the Knysna Heads

The Paddle Cruiser is South Africa’s only paddle-driven vessel. Departing daily from the Cruise Café jetty, this cruise offers a unique and unforgettable experience on the Knysna Lagoon. The Paddle Cruiser is a fully enclosed floating restaurant, offering daily lunch cruises and a sunset buffet dinner. With a fully kitted bar onboard to enjoy cocktails, sundowners, and oysters, whilst cruising to the Heads at twilight and returning under the twinkling stars whilst dining from the buffet, makes this an unforgettable experience.

• Stay in secluded Victoria Bay

Victoria Bay is a special find – a small, beautiful beach, almost hidden between George and Wilderness.

Basically a cove enclosed by cliffs, Victoria Bay is a small resort made up of a number of cottages clustered around the water front. The gently sloping beach makes it safe for swimming and big waves give surfers a long ride. The beach has its own tidal pool and jetty and is close to some beautiful areas where there are paths and trails for the whole family to enjoy.

• Stay at Tsala Treetop Lodge

Tsala Treetop Lodge

Set amidst the treetops of an age-old indigenous forest, Tsala is a lavish celebration of luxury. Elevated wooden walkways connect 10 suites and six villas that are equipped with ultimate creature comforts, while offering a wonderful sense of solitude. Wherever you are in the lodge – whether sitting in the lounge by the fireplace, relaxing in your private rim-flow pool, or enjoying meals in the glass-walled dining room – you’re constantly reminded that you are, in fact, several metres above ground level.
