Why did you enter the competition?

We entered the Wedding and Lifestyle Treasure Hunt as a bit of a joke at first but soon realized it was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, spend quality time together, and have fun as a couple. The bonus of having a chance to win our dream wedding made it even more exciting—something that could truly change our lives.

Tell us about your experience during the Hunt?

Our experience during the Hunt was a journey from start to finish. We cherished every moment and created memories that we will hold dear forever—moments we would never have experienced without this adventure. One standout moment was the public dance challenge, where we danced together under a streetlight late at night. That simple, romantic act reminded us of the importance of making time for spontaneous fun together. The challenges, the clues, and even the small conversations along the way helped us grow closer. It was filled with ups and downs, laughter, and teamwork—something we would absolutely do again in every lifetime.

What went through your minds as you were announced the winners? 

On the night of the amazing gala, we honestly didn’t think it was our time to win. But when we heard our names announced as the winners of our dream wedding, we were completely overwhelmed with emotion. It felt unreal—a mix of joy, disbelief, and gratitude. It was a truly magical and unforgettable moment.

What was the most exciting part of planning your wedding?

Designing and planning every detail of our special day—from the table layouts to the flowers—was everything I had imagined and more. Seeing it all come together on the big day felt like stepping into a dream, a vision of exactly what I had always hoped our wedding would look like.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day? 

The most memorable moment was walking down the aisle, seeing all our family and friends, and watching Gerrit, my now-husband, standing there with tears in his eyes. It was such a powerful and emotional moment—one we will never forget. Making our vows before God was the most beautiful promise of love we’ve ever shared.

What would you have done differently? 

Every wedding has small things that don’t go exactly as planned. If I could change anything, I’d probably book more time for photos and ensure everything is packed well in advance—especially when planning a destination wedding weekend!

Tell us about your honeymoon and how it was.

We are so excited for our honeymoon this December! We’ll be traveling to beautiful Bali, but before that, we’re starting with a mini-moon at the amazing eco-cabins in Dullstroom. It’s the perfect way to begin this new chapter together—a mix of adventure, romance, and relaxation.

What was the most important thing you learned as a couple throughout the whole experience?

We learned the true value of supporting and loving each other through every challenge. It taught us to celebrate the small wins, to stay patient, and to keep having fun together—even in simple ways, like camping in the living room or having dinner by candlelight. The most precious gift you can give one another is your time and genuine attention.

What message do you have for all your wedding vendors?

To all our amazing vendors—thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Our wedding wouldn’t have been possible without every one of you. Your time, patience, creativity, and passion made the entire planning process smooth and enjoyable. Every small detail, every bit of laughter, and every moment of support meant the world to us.
