Why did you enter the competition?

We entered the competition because we absolutely love games and challenges. The idea of combining that passion with planning our wedding sounded like an adventure we simply couldn’t resist. It was a unique way to celebrate our bond while having fun along the way.

Tell us about your experience during the Hunt, the challenges, and if you enjoyed it?

The Hunt was an exhilarating whirlwind—exciting, intense, and truly unforgettable. Every challenge pushed us out of our comfort zones and highlighted both our strengths and competitive natures. We had a few disagreements (thanks to our strong competitive spirits!), but those only added to the experience. Looking back, it was eye-opening and brought us closer as a team. We genuinely enjoyed every moment and wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

What went through your minds as you were announced the winners?

We felt pure shock and total joy! When the key finally unlocked the lock, we were both in disbelief—it felt like time stood still for a moment. An overwhelming rush of excitement, pride, and gratitude flooded us as we reflected on all the energy and effort, we had put in. It was an incredible experience.

What was the most exciting part of planning your wedding? 

The most exciting part was watching our vision come to life, especially knowing we had earned it through such a fun and challenging process. Every meeting with a vendor and every decision we made felt especially meaningful because it was part of something we had worked so hard for.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Without a doubt, it was the ceremony. Surrounded by our loved ones and reflecting on everything we had experienced to reach that point was incredibly special. James was emotional, which set off a wave of feelings among everyone present. I remember being so excited to finally see him and feeling that the day we had dreamed about was finally here. James says he doesn’t remember much—just the overwhelming joy of seeing me walk down the aisle. It was emotional and beautiful, a memory we will both cherish forever.

What would you have done differently?

Honestly, not much. Every high and low added to the magic of our journey. If we could go back, we would simply remind ourselves to pause more often, take a deep breath, and fully soak in every moment.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Thanks to winning the competition, we were gifted several honeymoon getaways—which we are still enjoying! Our first weekend honeymoon was at the Fairview Hotel & Spa in Tzaneen, and it was utterly tranquil. We indulged in massages at the spa, enjoyed the sauna and floating salt pool, and treated ourselves to manicures and pedicures. The food was just as delicious as we had hoped, and the friendly staff made our stay even more special. More recently, we had another weekend honeymoon (yes, we’re stretching them out throughout the year!) in Dullstroom at the wonderful Winterfell Eco Cabin. This secluded, eco-friendly cabin is tucked away in the hills, surrounded by nature, with panoramic views, a wood-fired hot tub, and a cozy fireplace—perfect for a romantic escape in the crisp mountain air and complete tranquillity. It truly felt like a retreat for the soul. We returned feeling recharged, connected, and already excited to plan our next getaway!

What was the most important thing you learned as a couple throughout the whole experience?

Our faith grew stronger throughout this journey, bringing us closer to both God and each other. We feel incredibly blessed to have one another, and this experience reminded us that our relationship is built on more than just love; it’s rooted in faith. We discovered how strong we are when we work together. Through the fun, the pressure, and even the occasional disagreements, we learned to support each other, communicate better, and enjoy the ride—no matter how wild it gets.

What message do you have for all your wedding vendors?

Words cannot express our gratitude. Every vendor played a crucial role in making our day unforgettable. Your passion, professionalism, and care made everything seamless and beautiful, and we will forever be grateful for the love and creativity you infused into our wedding.
