Stay at Jabulani Camp, Kapama

South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage, named HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development), is built alongside the Jabulani herd homestead. HERD provides a safe place to rehabilitate orphaned elephants until they can be integrated into the welcoming Jabulani herd.

Guests that stay at Jabulani contribute to the operational costs of HERD. They also have the opportunity to be a part of the elephants’ journey and their individual personalities and stories, and witnessing them in the wilderness of the Kapama reserve.

Play golf with a difference

Legend Golf & Safari Resort is a unique golf resort located in the Entabeni Conservancy in the Big 5 Waterberg Game Reserve. It is home to the unique ‘world-in-one’ Signature Course, where each of the 18 holes have been designed by a world-famous golfing legend. In addition, you can take on one of the world’s most talked about holes – the Extreme 19th. Set high up on the impressive Hanglip Mountain, this hole is accessible only by helicopter and played to a green in the shape of Africa, 400m below.

Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, Hoedspruit

The Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is a non-profit organisation that provides a home for many of South Africa’s abandoned and injured wildlife. Situated in the shadow of the Mariepskop Mountain near Hoedspruit, this rehabilitation centre is home to a variety of fascinating animals and over 300 species of birds. Interaction between the animals and visitors to Moholoholo is permitted under controlled conditions. Visitors can see a variety of animals at the centre, such as rescued lions from an Egyptian circus, Queen the crowned eagle, Chui the leopard, and the cheetahs, Jolly and Juba. There are also lions, honey badgers, vultures, and wild dogs.

Forests of Magoebaskloof

Magoebaskloof is a lovely drive and a mini getaway for both locals and visitors. The scenic mountain pass is covered by a lush evergreen subtropical forest – which is an absolute marvel to look at. The many waterfalls along the way make it a great place for all photographers to be at. Make sure that you drive carefully and keep your eyes on the road, as each turn has a surprise!

Take a walking safari in the Kruger National Park

Experience the African bush in a unique and up-close way when you embark on a walking safari through some of South Africa’s most beautiful wildernesses. A walking safari is a special experience where you can be close to the ground, in nature, following the paths of the kudu, lion, or zebra that may have walked in front of you. The thought of walking along the ground, away from the safety of your vehicle, seeing the spoor of the animals in the ground beside yours, makes your heart beat a little faster and makes you breathe a little heavier. The African bush becomes all the more magical and wilder.
